Our victory at the World Championship.

Andrey Balyakin, the IT-director of “Melston” Group and concurrently the professional snowkiter, who presents “Melston-team”, has become a Champion of Russia in yachting (Snowkite category) and won the bronze medal of Winter Yachting Sports World Championship 2014 in ski category.

The competitions supported by the Ministry of Sports of Russian Federation, the Federation of Sailing Sports of Russia, St. Petersburg Yachting Union and the Yachting club of St. Petersburg, took place in St. Petersburg yachting port “Hercules” from 28th of February to 8th of March.

Andrey says, “This year it was the most powerful composition of participants for the past few years! The best racers from all around Russia and the whole world assembled here. The competition’s organization the weather and the distance were perfect. All of this gave the possibility to play not only because of the professional skills and physical abilities, but also of the tactical capacity to divide favorably the distance into the series of races.”

Andrey also noticed that the kite surfing is very similar to the mixture of two absolutely different at a first glance sports as powerlifting and chess. It’s because of both: high pressure that the athlete feels being at the distance and the necessity of tactical struggle. Only gathered together those disciplines lead to the victory.
